Study on behaviour of surface plasmon resonances in Sierpinski fractal triangles


Isobel Bicket has recently published a paper in ACS Photonics on the behaviour of surface plasmon resonances in Sierpinski fractal triangles, as studied through EELS and FDTD simulations, together with the group of Francois Lagugne-Labarthet at the University of Western Ontario. They explained how the precise geometrical parameters of the fractal structure determine the behaviour of each of the plasmon modes, modifying the mode energy and the hotspot distribution - valuable knowledge in the design of multiband biosensors. The trends we have found are highlighted in the cover art for the November 2019 issue!
